Dad and I went on a drop camp hunt with Ron Morrison and Thunder Ridge outfitters out of Casper WY a couple years ago - he was great, showed us the ropes and the country pretty well. I've since heard his son took over and may not be as focused on the customer, but we both got good goats (76" and 81" as I recall) and left happy. We would go back to him again.

We weren't in the best place for trophy quality, but we felt we were always in the game and saw some good antelope (to our eyes anyway). Your satisfaction may depend on what you want out of the hunt.

Guided Elk Hunts - This an all inclusive hunt. Early season hunts are based out of a wall tent and late season hunts are based out of a lodge. We provide guide service, diner, lunches and beverages in the field, transportation to and from the airport, transportation to the meat processing plant and transportation to the local taxidermist if you choose. Your hunt is over on the day you harvest your animal.

DIY Unguided Elk Drop Camp - We provide the entire camp consisting of wall tent, cooking stoves, heating stoves, lanterns, pots and pans, all cooking and eating utensils, water, coolers, propane, cots, 4-inch foam pads, sleeping bags, pillows, tables, chairs, and conservation stamps. We will spend one day setting up the camp and showing you around the area. Your hunt is over after the final day you have reserved.

Deposit & Refund Policy - Prior to applying for a license a $200.00 deposit is required to receive a priority listing. Upon drawing a license your deposit is non-refundable and the balance of the hunt is due by Sept. 1st of that year. If you do not draw a license your deposit is transferable to the next year in order to maintain your priority listing. If you choose not to apply the next year your deposit will be forfeited. If you must cancel your hunt after Sept. 1st the entire amount paid will be forfeited. Special circumstances shall be exempt from these conditions at the discretion of Thunder Ridge Outfitters.
